Orlando police say that 50 people died in a shooting at a gay nightclub on Sunday — the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. modern history. The gunman, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was armed with a handgun and an AR-15 style rifle, a weapon which has been used in other mass shootings. The tragic event has some people wondering how businesses will ensure patrons’ safety in the future. "Well, no business is going to be able to spend their way to absolute protection against this kind of threat," said Audrey Cronin, the director of the international security program at George Mason University.
