Kevin Drum posted this a couple of days ago. It's as eye-catching a piece of social anthropology as any.
Except I live on a narrow, hilly rural road in Texas where -- sure! -- you'll see a Ford 150 rattle over the cattleguard from time to time. But Silverados are no scarcer and Toyota Tundras (built here in TX) are popular. As for Honda vehicles of all types, they're probably as popular here as in California and Delmarva with Subaru Foresters significant though scarcer. What's rarer nowadays is what I call the "widder car," the clunky Buick sedan prosperous businessmen turn over, when on their deathbeds, to their silver-haired wives.
