Two perils face Republican candidates and Republicans in general. The most tawdry of the two is the money Republicans accepted from the organizations -- known to be white supremacist -- that influenced Dylann Roof. The recipients of dirty money -- candidates like Ted Cruz and Rick Santorum -- are trying to get rid of the visible stain but may be stuck with the stink.
That's peril numero uno for Republicans as we edge toward 2016, but it may have less impact than a destructive Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare subsidies. Thing is, the people most directly affected by the loss of subsidies reside for the most part in Republican states with Republican governors and Republican voters.
2016 may turn out to be a delightful year. We have Mitch McConnell visibly falling apart. We might well see a market dip (shock waves!) thanks to the Supremes.
And the confederate flag may get buried... Which is all very well but only a symbol. We need to do better.
