The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races. ...NYT
The group, financed by the "biggest donors," call themselves "conservative." About the only conservatives I've noticed in Congress (and the White House) have been Democrats.
That's not meant to insult centrist Dems. It's meant to illuminate the fact that very, very few Republicans of the current generation are genuine conservatives. Radicals? Sure. Those are the guys the "Conservative Victory Project" want to get out of the party.
So what's left? Convinced corporatists and militarists. But not conservatives. The radicals in the party spent most of their time destroying the quiet equilibrium the corporatists of the party need to sell their unconservative, anti-democratic plans for America. They've already thrown the baby out. The tea partyers are just the dirty bathwater they're getting ready to toss.
Yeah. Words count.
