For weeks -- months! -- I've had this picture in my mind of a desperate Boehner addressing a group of tea partyers in his caucus: "If we go over the cliff, it may destroy the Republican party for the foreseeable future. Is that what you want to do?"
And the pod people shriek, "Yes!"
