Today, New Jersey Gov. and Mitt Romney campaign surrogate Chris Christie (R) said that those losses meant the country was moving in “the right direction,” and Romney himself backed that statement up later, criticizing President Obama for calling for the hiring of more teachers, firefighters, and police officers, the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent reports. ...Think Progress
We just had an election in our area. Among the people on the ballot were our county commissioners. These are the guys who make sure the roads stay open and the budget balances. Our long-time commissioner damn near lost to a newcomer this year.

When there's a storm Luther, the commissioner for our precinct, actually goes out with a chain saw in the rain in the middle of the night and gets the fallen trees off the road. When this woman... when she was campaigning, you know what she said? "Heck no! Me? Take the trees out of the roadway? I've got a cellphone. I'll call the county employees."
