I don't think words should be banned. No, not even that one. But Republicans are going in -- big time -- for word control, as Garance Franke-Ruta reports. Take "bisexual" and "transgender." She notes that the Boston Globe has already reminded us that Governor Romney deleted those words from the Massachusetts guide for schools about bullying.
Romney's total record in the matter of bullying is something he'd probably like to forget.
Then there's a Republican in Virginia for whom "sea level rise" is loaded "political speech," and a left-wing term to boot.
In Alabama, don't even try to talk about "sustainable development." Outlawed.
