Bob McDonnell backs off. Maybe it finally hit him that the state of which he's governor planned to stick little plastic camera up Virginia's vagina, even over her objections and in spite of her doctor's refusals. McDonnell, who wrote a paper about this when he was a student at Regent University.

Why aren't we hearing more about the Republican party's turn toward ever more intrusive government? Towards vicious statism? Do Republican voters really like this stuff or is the party going to experience a considerable backlash in November?
