Thing is, Bibi is a clown -- a destructive clown -- while Obama is right and knows it. No doubt he is prepared for the kind of political chicanery we've seen when Netanyahu and the Senate got together.
Senate Democrats are expected to support a resolution intended as a rebuff to President Obama’s call for basing Middle East peace talks on the 1967 Israeli-Palestinian borders.
All these political moves may well have been discussed before the president made his speech. Obama may have checked into Buckhouse yesterday, signing "24 May 2008" in the visitor's log, but he lives in 2011 and knows it. The Senate Dems (I suppose you can hardly blame them) were prepared for the old Israel mess and did what they have to do: they looked faint and ran to the john. We get to hear the noises they're making.
Democrats in both chambers are scrambling to fix the damage caused when Obama called for the 1967 borders and land swaps as a basis for peace. ...The Hill
Damage? The only thing Obama did differently from Bush was to say, rather than merely imply, "pre-1967." Everyone knows it. The Senate's political pantomime is an expected response.
Tired of it! Aren't you? We live now in 2011. Palestinians matter, the Middle East is going through enormous changes, and the Likud's hysterics count for much less than they once did.
