It's bad, bad, bad in Tripoli. "Security forces opened fire and killed several peaceful protesters." Journalists have been allowed into Tripoli. Between the journalists reports and bloggers accounts, the New York Times has something like a coherent, ongoing report from Libya as well as Yemen and elsewhere in the Middle East.
Tripoli bloggers posted several video clips said to show live fire directed at demonstrators in the Souq al Juma, or Friday Market, district of the city. On Saturday, journalists on the media tour were also taken to that area, which our correspondent reports: "appeared to have been the site of a riot the night before. The streets were strewn with debris, and piles of shattered glass had been collected in cardboard boxes." ...
...On Saturday in Tripoli, residents also told journalists on the media tour, "that they had seen security forces scooping up dead and wounded protesters and removing them from the streets, apparently to hide evidence of the violence."
