And possibly the power of push-polling. Reading the report in The Hill, you have to wonder about the extent to which so many Americans are just plain dumb, or the extent to which they have been misled, and/or the extent to which Rasmussen's poll was a pusher.
Nearly half of voters with health insurance do not believe President Obama’s promise that they will be able to keep it under the new healthcare reform law, according to a poll released Monday.
Forty-five percent of voters with healthcare insurance believe they will be forced to change coverage, including 26 percent who say it is “very likely,” according to the new Rasmussen Reports poll. Meanwhile, 46 percent said it's unlikely that they will have to change coverage, including 19 percent who said it is “not at all likely.”
Rasmussen polls are widely believed to trend to the right.
Dumb? More like deliberately credulous. Misled? No question about it. "Trendy" Rasmussen playing games? Probably. Let's not forget Obama was born in Kenya and is a Muslim.
In spite of all that, remember that "public enthusiasm for an Obama reelection bid is greater than it was for Ronald Reagan in 1982." That comes from a far more reliable research group.
