All they need to do is take the lead -- seriously -- in denouncing this kind of self-serving politician and drum him out of the party. They need his vote? Get real!
Mr. Nelson, Democrat of Nebraska, said that he voted against his own party’s measure because he believed that its proposed retroactive regulation of derivatives was unconstitutional.
That concern was raised to him by representatives of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren E. Buffett’s investment company, which is based in Omaha and maintains billions of dollars in derivative positions.
Mr. Nelson’s vote against his fellow Democrats raised questions about whether his personal holdings in Berkshire Hathaway influenced his position. I spent two hours yesterday in conversation with a self-described "redneck" and bagger sympathizer. It was impossible to disagree that both parties are up to their necks in corruption. The party that survives is the party that gets real about cleaning up its act.
Why shouldn't the Dems be that party?
