The boner -- or as the Washington Post and other left wing media call him, John Boehner -- is having real trouble with losing. House GOP leader has been getting shorter of temper each day for about a week. Lots of talk about punks and such. For a man of his (ahem) stature and philosophy, losing to a woman must have added mightily to the frustration. Last night, poor fella, he just blew it.
In his final words from the floor of the House before a vote on health care reform legislation, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) led a fiery round of rhetorical questions.
Raising his voice along the way, Rep. Boehner asked questions that drew answers from both sides of the aisle, and the minority leader himself.
First, Rep. Boehner took on the process by which the bill was written.
"Can you say it was done openly with transparency and accountability, without backroom deals and struck behind closed doors, hidden from the people?," Rep. Boehner asked. "Hell no you can't!"
He then moved on, keeping his voice raised as he asked if the congressional delegates if they had even read the proposed legislation at hand."Have you read the bill? Have you read the reconciliation bill? Have you read the manager's assessment?" he asked. "Hell no you haven't." ...NECN
I'm sure there are any number of Republicans who aren't much into reading bills, Constitutions, and other boring stuff, but the boner was unnecessarily rude about it. One thing, though. Republicans never ever make backroom deals or design legislation without fully consulting with Democrats. They were so decent and kind and bipartisan when they were in the majority. Remember?
Hell no. You can't.
