Dennis Kucinich nails it. (As usual.)
First, the recession and job losses are making the administration unpopular.
Second, the health care bill is dead and deserves to be. From the moment deals were made with pharmaceuticals and insurance companies, the chance for competitive health insurance and real savings was gone.
Three, whoever stepped into the presidency in the wake of George W. Bush was stepping into the disaster created by Bush. Obama has never said just how bad it was nor what he intended to do to clean up the Bush mess.

The central question is not necessarily about Ms. Coakley’s political fate, but whether House Democrats decide they are better off running for re-election in November if they have completed a version of the health legislation, albeit an imperfect one, or if Republicans are crowing that the Democrats wasted a year fighting for a bill that ultimately turned to dust.
Republicans are happy to see the Democrats’ fate intertwined with the health care bill one way or another. The Republican leader, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky made that point bluntly on Sunday during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”
“I think the politics are toxic for the Democrats either way,” Mr. McConnell said. ...NYT
