I was driving south through a flat, dry, unpopulated section of northern Mexico in one of those lonely areas where you grab gas gratefully when it's offered and where, in 50-75 kms. you might see 3 people at best. But all along the road were warning signs showing road works: men digging, trucks coming in from right, trucks coming in from the left, piles of gravel. Mind you, there were no men digging, no trucks, no nothin'. Just signs.
Maybe what Obama has been doing all along is doing nothing more than pounding in Mexican road signs. Instead of actually doing the job maybe he figures it's enough to put up signs offering a little hope but leaving the job undone and the road unpaved. Maybe he figures that's enough already.
