Paul Krugman's frustration is growing. Enough with Republican fear tactics -- we need a stimulus plan that's clear and workable. "Conservatives," he writes, "really, really don’t want to see a second New Deal, and they certainly don’t want to see government activism vindicated. So they are reaching for any stick they can find with which to beat proposals for increased government spending."
As usual, the Republican game is played by distorting statistics. Among them, the argument that tax cuts are more effective than government spending (not true, historically).
Of course, there's always the argument that eight years of Bush brought us all this stuff happening. And finally, people aren't paying all that much attention to Republicans anymore.
