The much-respected local hurricane expert in Austin was asked just now in an online chat whether the refineries along the coast are at risk from the wind.  He responded: " I think they're built to withstand this type of wind--they saw somewhat similar winds with Rita in '05. But I don't know if they're prepared for this type of storm surge, My gut answer is no, they're not." 

That could mean some big price increases.
