A second contractor was named in the matter of the violation of passport data at the State Department. The Analysis Corporation of McLean Va. (TAC) is one of the responsible parties. TAC is headed by the former head of NCTC, the National Counter Terrorism Center.
And then, if you google around long enough, you pick up this tidbit from Bill Gertz at the Washington Times:
TAC’s Chief Executive Officer John O. Brennan is a former CIA agent who is an adviser to Mr. Obama’s presidential campaign.
Maybe it was Brennan who tipped off the Obama campaign to the intrusion into private data after the State Department delayed notification.
However, if you then check out the reaction at various blogs to Brennan's consulting role, you wonder whether we deserve to live in a democracy. On the Democratic side of bloggery, one reaction is that every adviser must agree with the candidate in all things or -- oops! -- red flag. Specifically, if campaign adviser John O. Brennan is (not surprisingly, given his job) for telecom immunity, then Obama must be lying if he says he's against telecom immunity.
What's the difference between Talk Left's position and the attitude of a president who stuffs the Justice Department cram-full of like-minded evangelical rightwingers? And do we really fall for the idea that if Obama's friend and pastor believes something, then Obama must believe the same thing?
We'd pretty much guessed what the intelligence level is over at, say, Free Republic. But are those who Talk Left sinking to the same level? Does it really come down to a choice between Soviet Right and Soviet Left? No. Thank god for Obama.
