MyDD has posted the latest South Carolina polls showing Obama with a significant lead and the endorsement of the biggest newspaper. But here's the rub:
Interestingly, while the poll does not show a gender gap -- Obama's lead among women (45-29) is the same as his lead among men (43-27) -- there is a significant racial gap. While Obama leads Hillary Clinton and John Edwards 70 percent to 15 percent to 1 percent among African-American voters in the state, Clinton leads Edwards and Obama 43 percent to 30 percent to 17 percent among White voters.
Those are depressing stats -- and ugly news about South Carolina in 2008.
