Let's remember: there's a wide gap between who you've heard of and who you'd vote for. The gap has grown wider over the past 7 years as we lick the wounds we've taken from the Bush administration. Nowadays, I reckon, you're more likely to believe your neighbor than your senator.
I was thinking about that yesterday as I drove through the residential area of a nearby town and saw Ron Paul yard signs everywhere. No matter what you think of Paul, you'd be foolish to dismiss him outright if for no other reason than that his unselfconscious candidacy appeals to an awful lot of people fed up with "beltway wisdom." And take a look at where he stands relative to other Republican candidates...
Yard signs! Sixteen months before the final run-up to the election! Is that first or what? Makes me wonder whether we should be pounding yard signs into all our front yards if only to counter the mainstream media's impact on candidates' "visibility" and "name recognition."
