What Paul Waldman writes makes me think we are indeed witnessing a chance in media coverage of the Administration. It's a little like watching a small tug turning the huge ship, but the damn thing is finally being pushed into open water.
I was shocked to open my Washington Post today and see the paper actually call bullshit on Dick Cheney. This, after all, is what reporters should do. When a government official gets up and shovels a bucket of crap onto an unsuspecting public, the press' job is not to say, "The Vice President said today that President Bush in 2005 won not only the Nobel Peace Prize, but a McArthur genius grant and the American League Cy Young Award. Democrats disagreed." No, their job is to say, "The Vice President said a bunch of ridiculous stuff, and here's why it was false." So kudos to the Post's Jim VandeHei and Dan Eggen for doing their jobs.
It's true. Look at the article. They actually counter Cheney with the truth.
