Are we surprised?
A securities fraud case has been filed against Diebold, our favorite manufacturer of paper-trail-free election machinery, and almost certainly against its CEO and chairman, Wally O'Dell. He was the Republican contributor who said he was sure Bush would become president and then, many think, made that possible. O'Dell (are we surprised?) resigned from the company day before yesterday for "personal reasons."
Apparently not many on the Street are sorry to see O'Dell go. In fact, the shares may be worth more tomorrow. "Jefferies & Co. analyst Yvonne Varano raised her rating on the company to a 'Buy' from a 'Hold.'"
A bunch of dirty machines, a lot of Wall Street glee. Isn't capitalism beautiful? Why, there's always someone who profits, right?
