Pretty much every member of my family has been a life-long Democrat. I'm not the only one who, in recent years, has dropped party affiliation.
This morning I was thinking about how, if we talk about accountability (and, damn it, there needs to be a whole lots more action than talk about accountability, right?), we can avoid the accountability of Democratic representatives and party leaders who are complicit in the Iraq war. You know the ones I mean: the ones who went along to get along and who, unlike John Edwards, have never stepped back from their position.
Many ex-Dems, however, are supporting individual candidates in their own and other states, thanks to efforts made by a dozen or more blogs which have kept us current on who's running in which state. Certainly one of those blogs is Texas' own Brains and Eggs. PD at Brains and Eggs reports that David Van Os, a Texas Democrat, will be on Air America tomorrow.
Brains and Eggs points to what could be a nationally important effort to be spearheaded in Texas by David Van Os as Texas next Attorney General -- the revocation of the charters of those corporations which violate the law. No more slaps on wrists: the three-strikes-you're-out principle will apply to corporations no less than individuals.
If you, like me, are looking for good candidates to support nationwide, put David Van Os on your list, and try not to miss him tomorrow on Air America. Put Brains and Eggs on your list of blogs which give us reliable information about candidates who actually have integrity. And don't discount Texas as a potential leader in political reforms. The energy level has risen dramatically in the past year or so.
