No. It has to be just a liberal plot to demolish any shreds of credibility clinging to the Bush administration.
... An old enemy seems to be reappearing in Afghanistan: Qaeda training camps are sprouting up there, forcing the Pentagon and American intelligence agencies to assess whether they could again become a breeding ground for attacks on the United States.
Most of the handful of camps are not as big as those that Osama bin Laden built before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. But had they re-emerged several years ago, they would have rocketed to the top of potential threats presented to President Obama in his daily intelligence briefing. Now, they are just one of many — and perhaps, American officials say, not even the most urgent on the Pentagon’s list in Afghanistan. ...NYT
What's really going to ruin the breakfast of Mitch McConnell and John McCain is that the Pentagon and -- it seems -- our entire "intelligence" community -- failed to notice. Um... even though the camp measures over 30 square miles in size with "elaborate tunnels and fortifications."1
Similar camps probably dot the (rugged, treacherous) Afghanistan landscape but we haven't pinpointed them yet. Not a clue. Maybe just enough of a clue to make several dozen American corporations and government contractors go on a huge New Year's evening binge to celebrate anticipated profits in 2016. Unless that jerk Sanders looks like winning.
The media are delirious with the news that we can expect a massive attack on American soil at any time, as one general testified. Added to AQ and ISIS now is the introduction of AQIS (Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent).
Much of this new trouble originates in Pakistan ...just like the old trouble. This is inconvenient. Bush chose Afghanistan and Iraq. Newsweek blamed his obsession with the attack on his father. Others that 43 was developmentally disabled or couldn't read maps and that Cheney's brain had been affected by his heart surgery.
1. How many hours will it take for Donald Trump to claim he's seen a training camp like that or bigger just inside the Mexican border near Del Rio?
