I don't honestly think an American should be part of a conversation about targeted killings. We have been warrior-predators for so long, and with such conviction, that our judgment is rightly questioned.
In the light of who we really have become, the leaked DOJ memo is so ...old.
If we really want to deal with the matter of targeted killings and depriving American citizens of their "guaranteed" rights, we'll have to be more honest about ourselves and our history. I don't see that happening.
So it comes down to who leaked and who takes the fall for the leak. We aren't about to go all the way and question what stands behind all this: our belief that our serial targeting of others is "just defending" America. Americans who insist on owning assault weapons are "just defending" themselves. I bet that guy in the bunker was convinced he was "just defending" himself and the 5-year-old child he grabbed off a school bus after killing the driver.
We keep coming back to the hard truth that the weapons of mass destruction turn out to be you and me.
