We keep forgetting how lazy? forgetful? the left has been over the years. Maybe a combination of complacent and whiny? However awful the future looks for the Republican party right now, they are prepared to win next time -- and next time, and next time. For years they have refused to snooze during their downtimes. They -- and their moneyed supporters -- have been focused on the states.
State legislatures are in the grip, in many cases, of ALEC. Most governors are Republicans. The Kochs and others made sure one of their governors didn't go down in flames when Wisconsin Dems mounted a nearly successful attempt to get rid of Wisconsin's radical governor, Scott Walker, in a recall election.
Money and singlemindedness have served the Republican party very well. Now we find they've got the diversity issue wrapped up for future use.
With Republicans roundly criticized for being tone deaf to concerns of minority voters, John Avlon notes "it might surprise you to hear that Republicans are by far the more diverse party when it comes to statewide elected officials such as senators and governors. On this front, they leave Democrats in the dust. And that's why the GOP actually has a greater depth of diversity on their potential presidential bench looking to 2016 and beyond." ...CNN via Political Wire
Maybe this is an issue "Obama for America" is working on.
"The Kochs and others made sure one of their governors didn't go down in flames when Wisconsin Dems mounted a nearly successful attempt to get rid of Wisconsin's radical governor, Scott Walker, in a recall election."
Walker received more votes and won by a greater amount in the recall election than he did in the general election. But go ahead, keep thinking that the attempt was "nearly successful".
