Josh Marshall and Talking Points Memo have been among the greatest gifts to the online current events scene. Go on over there and check their comprehensive coverage of the debate and other issues.
Smack dab in the middle of the page is this polling wrap-up:
As someone who tries to be a responsible blogger, I looked this over very carefully -- including the sponsorship of this poll -- "Vote 4 Energy.org."
Turns out this sponsorship is right out of the natural gas industry. A click on "Vote 4 Energy.org" gets you this blatant ad for fucking fracking up the entire continent. These are not the sort of businesses that back the likes of Obama for president. In fact, the little arrow in the second tier of their ad points to a solid Romney win -- in a "poll" that gives Obama 51 more electoral college votes.
I don't blame Talking Points Memo for accepting this advertiser (I'm trying to be polite here), but I do think we readers need to use our eyes and heads before accepting "conclusions" -- like a predetermined presidential win brought to us by one of the most destructive industries backing the Republican party.
