The amount — a mix of funds raised directly by the campaign and large checks taken in by the Democratic National Committee — was even more than some earlier reports had suggested. This bears out the impression many of us have had of a shift, some time maybe at the beginning of the summer, towards an increasingly revved up support system out there. This lefty's impression has been that the debate, in the end, has had little effect on Obama supporters. In fact, the Romney performance -- slick and practiced -- is way way too reminiscent of Republican steamroll tactics. Yeah, yeah, Mitt, I kept thinking, the damn tuba works when you blow in it but wouldja give it a rest, please?
