Of course, it's worth remembering that the only "pollster" to get the 2008 presidential results right -- just short of perfect -- was Nate Silver. Silver gets quoted a lot in this blog. Pretty much daily during this season. And he has Obama ahead -- a slim margin -- in the popular vote at this reading, and well ahead in the electoral vote. Since the only state he didn't get quite right in 2008 was Indiana, I'm sticking with Silver and maybe we all should.
If you want to know how its done and you didn't see Silver on the Jon Stewart show a couple of nights ago, you really need to watch the video. Silver was so good - so interesting -- that Stewart kept him on. All three parts of the interview are available here. If you get a little stuck in the weeds in segment 2, move on to the hilarity in segment 3. Best not to miss the second part, though. It tells us precisely how we are being measured by both parties for our voting suits. They can tell us what we eat for breakfast, for god's sake...
