Okay, damn it! The winning ticket was sold in the Baltimore area*. There goes a lavish $10 for nuthin'!
The Washington Post's Michele Singletary, known for being a financial advisor who takes her own advice, has always followed the general rule of saving and not throwing away good bucks on a one-in-one-hundred-and-seventy-five-million (or worse) chance of winning the Mega Millions lottery. But this time she and her husband bought in just for the entertainment of the thing.
Me, too. But even so I hate the winner. That was my money.
*Update: Winning tickets also were sold in Kansas and Illinois. Share nicely, children!
