Damn, I wish it were someone who'd change its name. Anyone else disgusted by the persistence of Bush-talk? The Orwellian "Homeland Security"? "Homeland" designates the White House and its friends, while the rest of us have been searched, tapped, ignored, and manipulated by secretive leadership in the name of "security."
Whatever. Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano's name is in headlines this morning in connection with that unwieldy bureaucracy. Napolitano is said to be very knowledgeable about border issues. Is she sufficiently "robust" -- another annoying piece of Bush-speak -- for the job? She certainly appears to be more intelligent and knowledgeable than anyone the current administration has come up with. Time designated her one of the five top governors. Politico claims it's a done deal.
"Napolitano brings law-and-order experience from her stint as the Grand Canyon State’s first female attorney general. One of the nation’s most prominent female elected officials, she made frequent appearances on behalf of Barack Obama during the campaign. She was re-elected to a second four-year term in 2006."

if her years of failing to secure the Mexico-AZ border are any indication, then she should do a real bang-up job securing the whole country

What is considered the best way to secure that border?
