Those "political briefings" at Treasury and Commerce led to spending "millions in federal money" on Republican candidates' districts

Remember all those Rovian meetings at places like Treasury, Commerce, Justice, and elsewhere to acquaint political with Republican campaign issues but (heaven forbid!) not try to influence them in any way?   McClatchy reporters have the story.
