Hooo-weee! Showdown at Capitol Gulch! 2:30 ET!

Muckraker says Senator Leahy has had it.  The deadline for the White House to get materials relating to the origins of the domestic surveillance program was July 18.  The White House got an extension.  Today it filed for another extension.  Leahy has denied the extension and is flying to Washington for a 2:30 ET press conference.

This afternoon, the next steps for all sides should be clearer -- particularly whether, in the event of noncompliance, Leahy will seek to have the committee consider members of the administration formally in contempt of Congress.

The subpoena was originally issued June 27th to the White House Office, the Office of the Vice President, the National Security Council, and the Department of Justice.

It's a toss-up.  Spencer Tracy or Jack Palance?
