Now it's the Dems who find themselves in a headlock?
First the Democrats have postponed the Alberto Gonzales "no confidence" vote. I usually agree with Muckraker. But this time many are saying the vote will be pushed into June.
Now they're taking the pressure off Bush to agree to a date for withdrawal from Iraq.
We can accept that politics sometimes require readjusting schedules and playing it cool. But at a time when the Republican Party, already badly wounded, is taking some serious hits over the immigration proposals, the last thing we need is a Democratic Party pulling back from its obligation to press for an Iraq withdrawal. Or is it Joe Lieberman who's got the Democratic Party in a headlock?
Andrew Bacevich said this morning in an interview -- at a time when he is dealing with his son's death in Iraq ten days ago -- that we are living in an America in which the government no longer pays attention to the people.
Hard to find anything that would justify disagreeing with him.
