Someone was saying the other day that the Democratic field of candidates for 2008 is very far from being the earlier "seven dwarves" campaign season. Instead, what we've got this time around is one terrific candidate after another -- a really worthy group. I don't like them all but I have to admit that any one of them is well able to do the job. And one doesn't even have to think about, say, Rudy Giuliani or Sam Brownback, to pick up on the difference in stature of the two parties' candidates.
It's lousy rotten news about Elizabeth Edwards. The worst. She's quite a dame, and she's been a real mover and shaker in his campaign. We should all be wearing pink ribbons on Elizabeth Edwards' behalf.
Though I haven't become a committed Edwards supporter, he comes closer than any of the others to my own convictions, particularly in domestic policies. So damn. It's would be hard to lose a candidate who has been working so hard for economic and social fairness. He's staying on for now. Fingers crossed that he's able to see the campaign through and that his wife will find her way through what's bound to be a very, very difficult time.
