Steve Clemons has posted an interesting piece from the Sunday Times (London) about the comprehensive confession of Khalil Sheikh Mohammed. Worth a read. But most thought-provoking is Steve's comment at the end:
It would be interesting to know what this 9/11 plotter thinks about the success of his operation and of the distraction of America away from his al Qaeda overlords into the swamp of Iraq.
That, after nearly six years, is the real issue. If you have to go to war, at the very least aim your weapons in the right direction, no?
It must be a little unsettling for Bush and Cheney to realize that, in spite of all their efforts to wring any success out of endless failures, KSM is sitting in Guantanamo knowing they've done nothing to reverse the damage done on 9/11. Hell no. They only made the mess worse.
