The best thing about Sundays in this household is access to the CBC's "Sunday Edition." I kid you not. I spend half Sunday morning cheering the extrarordinary reporting, commentary, discoveries, and humanism of that program. I give you this to think about:
Janice Stein is one of a panel talking about the "good news" of 2006. Inevitably the bad news gets a thrashing too. And here's one of the issues in Canada which Stein believes will become an bigger issue in the new year:
Should religious institutions be given a pass if they discriminate against women? No women priests? Genital circumcision? Less education in church schools for females? Do we, in the US, allow tax exemptions to churches which discriminate in this way?
I'll tell you one thing. You can wrest a good deal of the technology in this house away from me and I won't utter a word if you'll just keep your cotton-pickings off my Sirius and XM gizmos and subcriptions.
