National security not a high priority at the White House, obviously
Probably a good idea to keep an eye on on the dots Murray Waas continues to connect as the Libby-Plame-NIE matter unfolds.
The larger, blurrier story is the way in which the Bush administration uses "national security" as a playing card, a fungible asset. There's national security as political tool to get us into war. There's national security as a damn nuisance when one wants to score a political point or hide something.
There's "national security" as a way for the Attorney General to get out of doing his constitutional duties. And there are the revelations of violations of national security within the White House itself and at "the highest levels" -- again, for political gain. Oh, and let's not forget the development of a lucrative national suicide plan (lucrative for specific industries) for the purpose of "national security."
Orwell's skeleton shifts a few more inches, rattling.
