Perilous departure of DickCheney

Huffington has a link to an Insight article which brings us the news that, thanks to some real problems between Bush and Cheney and their respective staff members, Cheney will resign at the end of 2006 -- after the elections.

Oh goody?  Oh no.  I don't think this is necessarily good news and could be quite bad news for Dems.  Bush with a more moderate, likeable veep, might pick up some points himself.  A vice president who's a credible candidate for 2008 presents the left with a real problem unless the Democrats develop a following -- a little real affection and respect -- among voters who've moved away from Bush.

The loss of Cheney would be a mixed blessing, at best.

(Particularly if he decides to spend more time hunting.)
