Cheney's whistleblower
I used the same (excellent!) carwash in Austin this morning that's used by the Travis County DA's office and no, I didn't see Ronnie Earle or any of his minions.
But I did read a mushed up copy of today Austin American Statesman which assures us voters that both sides (Earle? DeGuerin?) are working towards a compromise which will allow DeLay to continue as House Majority Leader. Thought you'd be right glad to know that... Uh-huh...
Driving home into the sunset, regaining my composure while listening to Al Franken, weekly guest Josh Marshall allowed as how there's a whistleblower from Cheney's inner circle -- his asstant national security aide -- who's talking to the Special Counsel. Yup. John Hannah. You wouldn't know that from looking at Josh's 12.25 p.m. post where he just types the name, "John Hannah." That was just before he went on the air.
So here's John Hannah. I expect we'll know more in the next couple of days (or so Marshall predicts, pointing out sensibly that the Grand Jury meets Wednesdays and Fridays and next week is the last week of that Jury).
One article mentioned on Al Franken's show reports:
Cheney's name has come up amid indications Fitzgerald may be edging closer to a blockbuster conspiracy charge - with help from a secret snitch. "They have got a senior cooperating witness - someone who is giving them all of that," a source who has been questioned in the leak probe told the Daily News yesterday.
